  • I totally agree with Thomas. I have never felt more welcomed in a church or felt at home with the congergation. The Reverand loves to have children in the congergation. I have never felt like the sermon is just speaking directly to me like I do in this church!

I was considering joining this church and using it as my venue for my wedding and was told that they only marry members, so I asked, what if I became a member? I was called by the pastor John Suitor and he basically told me they didn't do it because it would inconvenience the members of the congregation and that a lot of people do want to get married at it, it is one of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen inside and out white with a big steeple and stained glass windows and beautiful mahogany pews with green fabric, it is one of the oldest churches in Virginia and it is a historic landmark. He told me that it was my fault that my previous marriage failed and that I should have known that he was a drug addict. UM, yeah. Like people don't change. Like I didn't try to work with the guy. Like I didn't love him and try to help him. He was nothing like that before I married him and after he made me feel terrible about something I shouldn't feel bad about had the nerve to say I was welcome at his church for services. Yeah like I would want anything to do with your church after saying such hurtful things to me and calling my fiance up in tears about what you said to me. Also, I was told that I would have to go through 6+ months of counseling that he would have to know me, and in the time frame that we are planning to get married in it is not long enough. That is all good and well, I have talked to other churches and they told me the same thing and I guess I understand but what I don't agree with is what he said, that my failed marriage was my fault. I also, IMO think that they should do ceremonies at any church, it brings in revenue for their church but whatever. It is also because dealing with people like this that I do not go to church. It is never that I didn't believe in God, but I always thought that God was forgiving and that he was the only one that could judge me, not a pastor. Church should never be about making people feel like they are complete and total failures in everything they do, it is about the teachings of God, fellowship, love, tolerance and forgiveness.

  • A family friendly Church set in an impressive historic setting. The minister and congregation were great. This is a place where both members and visitors are welcome to worship and celebrate God’s gifts.
